Life Rings – Water Safety
In 2021 with funding from BC Community Gaming and the Boating Safety Contribution Program of Transport Canada, Station 106 volunteers began another proactive Water Safety Program. To construct, paint, and establish Life Ring Stations across the Shuswap.
Life Rings, also known as Kisbee Rings or Life Buoys, are a life saving apparatus designed to be thrown to a person in difficulty in the water to provide buoyancy to prevent drowning.
As of August 2022, our volunteers have installed 17 Stations with an additional 3 stations constructed and ready for installation.
Our thanks to the Shuswap Watershed Council for assisting our Station by producing a map and list of locations in the Shuswap.
